Matthew has been practising exclusively in criminal and traffic law since his admission as a solicitor.  Matthew joined the team at Morrisons after graduating from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. In 2018, Matthew became a partner at Morrisons.

Matthew regularly appears before the Local, District and Supreme Courts in NSW, supporting and representing clients in all types of criminal and traffic offences. This includes murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, large scale drug supply, tax fraud, kidnapping, shootings and sexual offences.

Matthew is a member of NSW Young Lawyers and has previously been a general delegate for the Criminal Law Committee. He has contributed to a number of written submissions by NSW Young Lawyers on criminal law reform.

In 2017, Matthew was identified as an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law by the NSW Law Society. At the time, he was one of the youngest successful candidates to obtain specialist accreditation across NSW. In 2018, he was appointed to the Criminal Law Specialist Accreditation Advisory Committee, a committee that is responsible for setting and marking assessments for solicitors applying to be accredited specialists.

Matthew enjoys the art of advocacy-based work and the variety of cases that criminal law can bring, with no two cases or people ever being the same. Helping people and acting on their behalf, normally in their worst times, fuels his passion for criminal law.

In 2019 and 2020, Matthew was identified as a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30, in the category of Criminal Law. This is an Australia-wide assessment that identifies excellence in the field for persons 30 years or younger.

In 2020, Matthew was elected as the Criminal Law Representative for the Wollongong and District Law Society. In the same year, he was identified as a Leading Criminal Lawyer in Regional NSW in the Doyle’s rankings.
