Matt was admitted as a solicitor in 2012 after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Wollongong. Since then, he has practised exclusively in criminal and traffic law. Before his admission, Matt gained experience in criminal law at the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as well as through working as a law clerk at Morrisons in his final year of study.
Matt regularly appears before the Local and District Courts in the Wollongong and Sydney area in all types of criminal and traffic offences. He has also instructed Counsel in the NSW Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeal on a number of occasions, in both conviction and sentence appeals.
Matt is a member of NSW Young Lawyers and has previously been a general delegate for the Criminal Law Committee. He has contributed to a number of written submissions by NSW young lawyers on criminal law reform.
Matt also assists students at the University of Wollongong, being a moot judge for their Law Students Society advocacy competitions and helping students prepare to take part in advocacy competitions representing the University.
Aside from law, Matt is a member of the Cricket Illawarra Management Committee, Vice President of Helensburgh Cricket Club, and a regular player in grade cricket in the Illawarra.
